The current preferred mode of transport

BMW R1250GS Adventure.

The best bike I've ever owned and I've had a few!

I learnt to ride at the age of 15 on my dad's MZ TS250 on a private circuit called the Cardrome in Hornchurch, Essex. Having been riding pillion since I can remember, it was a natural conversion.

At 16 (1978 check those flares out!) I bought a Yamaha FS1E for £140 and sold it a year later for £110.

On my 17th birthday I collected a brand new Suzuki GT250 X7, which was £600. Probably worth 10x that now had I kept it.
Advanced Riding and Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists

After I bought my Yamaha Super Tenere in 2015, I joined TVAM in September with the prospect of advancing my riding skills. Despite having ridden for the past 37 years on many different bikes, it was clear that I had a lot to learn.

I passed the advanced test in March 2016 and then joined the Trainee Observers group where I was coached to an even higher standard of riding and then to become an IMI accredited Observer under the IAM Roadsmart  organisation.

I now ride with many bikers of all levels in both social and coaching environments.

TVAM has over 1100 members and the centre of operations is Wokingham, where we meet every month on the 3rd Sunday. The members of TVAM come from a wide variety of ages, skill level, type of bike ridden and location. Such is the size of the area we cover, we are split into teams. I'm currently the team leader for GNATs, Great Northern Area Team, and it covers the area above the red line (as far north as you like) in the map below.
